Jason Houck Wins 2014 ControlTrends “Young Gun” Award

HCS Director of Integration and IT Honored as Industry Star

CHICAGO, IL – Hepta Control Systems, an international leader in intelligent building technologies and control systems integration, is pleased to announce that Director of Integration and IT Jason Houck earned a “Young Gun Award” at the 2014 Control Trends Awards, held Monday night in Chicago.

As one of the inaugural recipients of the “Young Gun Award,” Houck was honored for being among the most impressive controls professionals under 30 years old in the world by Control Trends, one of the biggest sources of news in the industry.

“I’m truly honored to have been recognized with this award for the work I’ve contributed to at HCS,” Houck said. “This is a great industry for young people to get into, and I’m excited to go to work each day knowing the impact our projects can have.”

Houck has held several roles within Hepta Control Systems, and despite his “Young Gun” status, he brings over a decade of industry experience to his work.

“There’s nobody on our team at HCS who isn’t worthy of an award for the hard work and vision that each and every one of us brings to the table,” Houck said. “I’m thrilled to accept the honor, but I know that this doesn’t happen without the contributions of everyone at HCS.”

The award caps off a great 2014 for Hepta Control Systems, who won the inaugural Niagara Summit Innovator of the Year award in April, as well as an IBcon Digie Award for Most Intelligent Office Portfolio in July.

Hepta Control Systems is a leader in building automation and integrated security controls, providing turnkey solutions on technical infrastructure for security, comfort and efficiency in buildings. With offices in Canada and the United States, HCS serves clients around the world.

Bedrock Office Portfolio Awarded at 2014 Intelligent Buildings Conference

DETROIT, MI – Hepta Control Systems (HCS) remains at the forefront of the smart building industry as they won the 2014 Digie Award for Most Intelligent Building Projects in the Office Portfolio category at the Realcomm & Intelligent Buildings Conference (IBcon) in Las Vegas last week. HCS earned the award for their work with Bedrock Real Estate Services in Detroit.

While Digie awards have been presented since 1999, this was the third year since the creation of separate IBcon categories to recognize industry leaders for the creation of intelligent building systems, buildings, portfolios and cities. Firms from across the United States competed in the Office Portfolio category.

HCS has implemented integration systems covering over 3 million square feet in 11 Bedrock buildings. Through integrated HVAC systems, lighting controls, utility monitoring and window shade controls, Hepta has helped reduce Bedrock’s gas and electric consumption by nearly 30 percent.

“Working with Bedrock has been an incredibly rewarding experience for HCS, and the Digie award is an honor we are proud to share with the Bedrock team,” said HCS President Ted Houck. “Bedrock’s commitment to energy conservation and sustainability continues to set the bar in this industry, and we are excited to continue to work together.”

HCS’s work with Bedrock has transformed several Detroit landmarks into world-class smart buildings, utilizing cutting-edge environmental building technologies to offer their tenants a great place to live, work and play in the midst of downtown’s regeneration.

The Digie is the second major award won by HCS for their work with Bedrock this year, as they were named the 2014 Niagara Innovator of the Year in April.
