Hepta Control Systems Named 2014 Niagara Innovator of the Year

Bedrock Project Earns Honor at Tridium Summit

June 30, 2014

DETROIT, MI – Hepta Control Systems (HCS) was recently named the 2014 Innovator of the Year at the Niagara Summit in Las Vegas. HCS earned the award for their use of Tridium’s Niagara framework throughout their building integration project with Bedrock Real Estate Services in downtown Detroit.

HCS competed with firms from around the world for the inaugural Niagara Innovator of the Year award. A crowdsourced voting process throughout the summit resulted in an HCS victory.

“The Niagara Framework is an integral part of our work with Bedrock, and we’re thrilled that our use of its limitless possibilities has led to this award,” said HCS President Ted Houck. “The fact that our peers in the industry chose our work for this honor further validates Bedrock’s vision for world-class smart buildings in downtown Detroit, and we’re proud to have the opportunity to play a role in that vision.”

Tridium’s Niagara platform is used throughout 11 Bedrock properties in downtown Detroit to integrate over 20 building systems, from HVAC to fire systems to automated window shades, giving building managers centralized control and monitoring capabilities.

Millions of data points allow control systems to maintain desired air temperatures, indoor and outdoor lighting and several other aspects to provide maximum value in both tenant comfort and energy efficiency. These energy-efficient automated systems have resulted in a reduction in Bedrock’s gas and electricity consumption of nearly 30 percent.

Hepta Control Systems is a leader in building automation and integrated security controls, providing turnkey solutions on technical infrastructure for security, comfort and efficiency in buildings. With offices in Canada and the United States, HCS serves clients around the world.
